Trash..

My dear friend Jenn was visiting me over the weekend. We started comparing our husbands habits...

As is Jenn's, my husband is fantastic. He is absolutely perfect for me. I couldn't have asked for a better man to love me and our baby girl.

HOWEVER.. as most wonderful husbands do, he comes with some bad habits.

Since I am currently a stay at home mom I do the majority of the chores around the house. Husband has a minimal amount of things that I ask him to do. Some of them are please brush your teeth, please take a shower.. stuff like that. Another is the trash. He is responsible for taking the trash to the curb twice a week. Trash day is always the same day of the week. Last week I decided to try a little experiment to see how long it would take him to do this one thing without me asking him to do it.

Our trash can got very full. I started smashing the trash down until it wouldn't smash anymore. I started a new bag on the floor next to the trash can and started filling that up. My stinky fish trash even ended up in there. Do you think he noticed? Nooooo.. not even when he had to kick the second bag out of the way to sit down and eat breakfast. I finally caved and asked him (a few times) can you please take out the trash, dear sweet husband?

Are all husbands like this? I'm not complaining, because he truly is a wonderful sweet man that I love to pieces, I just think it's funny. Selective seeing goes along with selective hearing I suppose!

We TOTALLY have that problem at our house. He does a lot of house cleaning but the 2 things that are HIS job are the toilets and taking out the trash. I will often start new bags and say "I don't know what to do with this second bag?" Or his favorite ....I start gagging and say "What is that smell?" "Oh yeah, the trash hasn't been taken out and there is some nastiness in it." Gag, gag,gag....those noises are much more effective than just asking. :)

One of my hubby's jobs is to take out the trash also. I never have to ask him to take it out, however, he usually forgets to put the barrel out the night before, so I end up bringing it to the curb in the morning.

My hubby's job is also to take out the trash. I will say he is pretty good about it and on days when he forgets, he will take it out the morning it is being picked up. So he rarely misses, which is good!

I think this is most definetly a man thing. My brothers job is trash takeout and I've had to remove the bag and leave it near the trash can in the kitchen. It's like they don't notice, lol!

They are all the same. I asked David the other night "Did you take the trash out", He responded "yes". The next day I noticed he did take the dumpsters to the curb but did not take the trash from the kitchen to the dumpster. aghhhh

also my husband's job. He's great about taking the bins to the curb on trash day. He's only "OK" about taking the trash out of the house though...I have to do the mashing thing to. I sometimes have to ask because he doesn't seem to notice the over-flowing status.

When I ask to take out the trash. It means "please take the trash out dear I have been obsessing about it for hours and finally broke down and asked you.

What they (all) here is "honey please take out the trash anytime in the next week after you watch that 10th TV show and I obsess so much I will take it out"

In general, agree with Jane. However, between my hubby and brother-in-law, I never have to ask to have the bags taken out. I take the bins out on trash day. Thankfully we don't have a million, like Kim's neighbors.
